Helping feed the chickens at the Olson Farm. Dane loves to help gather the eggs with Miss Gretchen and then chase the chickens to the far corners of their property.
Dane is getting help herding chickens from Jackson, the Olson spaniel famous for his expert herding abilities :)
Breakfast of english muffins with honey and candy sprinkles, eating in mommy's seat, juice (not milk), and wearing his hat at the table. Special breakfast, indeed!
On Wednesday, May 5th, while the rest of you were drinking margaritas, Korean children throughout the world were celebrating Children's Day. If you want to learn the meaning and history of the holiday, check out this link:
The way Children's Day works is kids are the kings and queens for a day. Therefore kids eat their favorite foods, go to their favorite places, do their favorite things, and of course receive gifts. I realize he's a little young to "get" Children's Day but it's so fun and enriching to our little family to create new traditions. Dane's birthday is January 11th, right after Christmas and always the coldest day of the year. So between more presents, barely being able to pull any kind of party together right after the holidays, and limited to inside activities due to weather, I always worry his birthday is somewhat diminished. So it was a lot of fun to have another chance at giving him a "special" day. I really enjoyed reading Facebook posts from some of the other families throughout the day and seeing how they celebrated as well. Here are some pictures from Children's Day at the Miller house:
