Weekend In Moline

I apologize that it took me so long to get a post up about this! Last weekend Dane and I had a super fun time at my parents' house in Moline with Larry and Merikay Willer, and Sara and George Genereaux. The original plan was for the Willers to stay with the Greens and have grown up fun. But Sara had the great idea of both of us showing up with our toddlers and crashing the party! Plus, we were in need of the wonderful break we both get when we bring our kids to our own mother's house for a weekend. We both enjoyed the extra sleep, extra long uninterrupted showers, and no changing of diapers.

Dane and I kicked off the weekend with a fun (as always) playdate with Kendall, Carson, and Jack at Eileen and Mike's house. Eileen has been my very best friend since the fourth grade. Her girls are so sweet to Dane and always want to make sure he is having fun. Now that Jack is 13 months old and walking he has no problem keeping up with the other kids. One of Dane's favorite things about Eileen's house is that she has the good snacks that I don't keep around. Funny thing is, that was one of my favorite things about Eileen's childhood home... the good snacks! (Mrs. Voss's chocolate chip cookies - yum!)

The two boys were fast friends literally and figuratively, as evidenced by the video. It was a little awkward for Dane when George wanted to wrestle with him and Dane had no clue what he was trying to do (George's older brother, Frankie, taught him everything he knows). Steve has been spending his evenings this week trying to remedy that situation by practicing with Dane in the living room after dinner. lol

The Willers (that includes all the kids, spouses, and their kids) are really awesome lifelong friends that feel more like family than anything else. It is such a wonderfully comfortable dynamic where conversation picks up right where it left off from the last time we were together, no matter the length of time between visits. That's what makes it really special to see the next generation becoming friends too!
